Getting to Lodge Dinorwig is easy. We offer free parking for guests, and the hostel is also accessible by public transport, with the bus stop right outside and Bangor train station just 10 miles away.
From the Manchester/Liverpool: Follow the A55 towards Bangor and exit at Junction 11. Follow signs for Llanberis, then turn off the A4244 towards Deiniolen. Drive through the village and continue about a mile to Dinorwig, where Lodge Dinorwig Hostel is on the right.
From Birmingham: Follow the A5 north through Wales towards Snowdonia National Park, then take the A4244 towards Llanberis. Turn off to Deiniolen and continue to Dinorwig — the hostel is on the right.
The nearest train station is Bangor, around 10 miles from Lodge Dinorwig. From Bangor, there are two main options to reach us by bus:
Option 1 – Via Deiniolen:
Take the Snowdon Sherpa S2 bus from Bangor train station towards Llanberis. You can either walk the final mile uphill from Deiniolen to Dinorwig or change in Deiniolen to the S3 Sherpa bus, which stops right by our hostel.
Option 2 – Via Caernarfon:
Take a bus from Bangor to Caernarfon — a lovely detour if you’d like to see the castle — then hop on the Sherpa S3 bus towards Dinorwig. This bus stops directly outside Lodge Dinorwig.
Buses generally run hourly or every other hour, so it’s best to check the latest Sherpa timetables before travelling. You can check the current timetable here.
If you’re walking from Llanberis, don’t follow Google Maps — it will take you all the way around Llyn Padarn, adding unnecessary distance. Instead, take the shortcut through the woods, passing Dinorwig Quarry. The walk is uphill and takes about an hour from Llanberis, while the return down takes around 40 minutes. It’s a scenic, quieter route and much quicker than the lakeside road.
The perfect location to explore everything North Wales has to offer. Surrounded by dramatic landscape, Snowdon is just one of many peaks you can conquer nearby. With nearly 250 miles of coastline in North Wales, a beach is never far.
