The interior is super cozy, with beautiful views over the mountains. It was incredibly clean and well kept. The owner was very responsive to communication at all times of the day and the breakfast was very good! You can tell that the owner loves her job and does everything with a smile. There is hot tea waiting for you in the kitchen when you arrive and there is ample room in the common area to unwind after a long day of hiking or traveling that is away from the bunks so as not to disturb those who are sleeping. There was a lot of attention in the details:for example, the owner write the weather forecast everyday on a chalk board in the bunkroom. I felt very safe the entire time and all of the other guests were very respectful. The bunks were comfortable and clean and even had their own charging ports, night lights, and curtains. The bathrooms were very clean and every shower/toilet stall had a lock and enough room to bring your stuff in with you. There were also lockers avaliable for each guest. Beautiful location and gorgeous view! About a 15 minute walk from the dinorwig slate quarry so I recommend hiking up to the quarry from Llanberis and eating dinner at the hostel. Again: VERY clean. Briefly stayed (two nights) . Cannot fault one single thing about it, I was happy with every aspect, the whole experience was wonderful, and I was reluctant to leave. Dad and myself stayed Friday-Monday, we cannot fault the owners of Dinorwig Hostel. Made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived to the very end, breakfast was brilliant, the views from the hostel were outstanding! Amazing value for money, the hostels layout is very well presented and captured every detail, it is secure and the beds were really comfortable. We will definitely be back, whether that be together or a solo trip. Great location to climb the snowdonia mountain ranges ,the staff were very nice everything was well communicated with the check in & anything else we needed . The main communal room was big with lots books & a chest board to play. The sleeping room had Bunkbeds that had a curtain for a bit of privacy & each had they own plug socket & light wich was very handy. The showers room had 3 individual showers with a door for privacy also two toilets located there . A small carpark with around 10 spaces but that was enough for our stay . This was my favorite stay of my entire trip in the UK. EXCELLENT10Verified "Unforgettable, relaxing, perfect getaway." ☺ Great location and heartwarming history of the lodge itself. Extremely pleasant hosts with only two of us staying at the time cooked us both dinner and breakfast. ☹ Prime location for hikers, climbers, nature and history lovers. Very well maintained, clean with great parking. Views are spectacular.Posted on9.0Verified This is a gem in the Welsh countryside! ☺ Oh, this place really was amazing, I am so grateful to Sonni for being so welcoming, friendly, courteous, helpful, and overall amazing. It was my very first time staying at a hostel, and I was really nervous, but I felt at home straight away. Starting with a message from Sonni on the day of arrival, providing instructions - all comms were great. Then, the hostel is super cosy - very warm, very clean, everything was tidy, everything was signposted, everything working. Anything I didn't know, Sonni was there to help with. Beds were very comfy, lights were all working, heating was on when it was needed, dehumidifier in the hallways for wet clothes, lots of space to dry wet towels and clothes. But best of all is Sonni herself - the host - always ready to help with anythig and everything and made me feel at home and at ease straight away. Massive thank you for everything! ☹ I would generally say nothing, becuase it was really amazing, but if I have to be picky, I'll say this (and it is not at all any fault of the hosts, but more communal livign in general): In the everning, becuase there are so many people in the room, nobody wanted to turn off the lights, as everyone was thinking somebody might still need it, whilst others were already asleep, or using lights in their bunks. Perhpas there should be a general 'lights off' time set? Some people left showers slightly untidy sometimes - maybe a notice to wipe off the surfaces, and some desinfectant wipes could be nice to have. But really, this would already be way, way above what is needed. Finally, for me, as I was relying on public transport, the buses were rather rare, and connections with Llanberis and Bangor, for me, were difficult. So perhaps not the best place for people using public transport, although I simply walked to the nearest other bus stop, instead of waiting for the bus (bus stop for a direct bus to Bangor is probably about 40 min walk away, and I didn't mind it). The hosts were incredibly helpful and nice. Solo female trip relying on public transport. They connected me with a fellow traveller who was able to give me a lift to the start of the snowdon walk. When I didn't return to the accommodation by dinner time, she checked with me to ensure I was doing alright. Location is picturesque. Beds comfy and clean - although you are just going to be pretty knackered after all the hiking, so it honestly wouldn't matter! ☹ If you are travelling by public transport, you will need to plan carefully to stay here. Read the time tables and be prepared to walk if the bus is missed. Ti'n reit agos i Chwarel Dinorwig (sy bellach ddim yn gweithio) - llawer o hanes diddorol - ac i deithia cerdded i fynyddoedd fel Elidir Mawr, Foel-goch ac ati. Golygfeydd anhygoel. What a beautiful hostel in a stunning location! This place was super clean, private and safe, with a warm, friendly atmosphere. The owners went out of their way to care for my individual requirements and the food was amazing. I can’t recommend this place highly enough and will definitely be going back. You're really close to disused Dinorwig Quarry, which is really amazing to visit, with lots of history and also really close to mountain walks eg Elidir Fawr, Foel-goch. Each bunk has a shelf, power cable, and reading light / privacy curtain. Really yummy food. The perfect place to enjoy lots of beautiful hikes in Snowdonia National Park.Posted onVerified My experience My sister took me to this youth hostel I’ve never in my life stayed in a youth hostel before so did not know what to expect. The owners where lovely soni was a pleasure to meet so knowledgeable of what and where to go, the meals where lovely, they could not have been more helpful. The place is inviting everybody that stayed where very respectful of everyone else. There is three bathrooms and three toilets. Throughly enjoyed our stay there and would definitely give this a five star rating.Posted onVerified What more could you want Never stayed in a lodge before. I don't know how good the others are but Lodge Dinorwig is really good - very clean and quiet. With a nice breakfast and coffee included it is a steal. Sonni was polite and helpful. We had a series of catastrophic car issues en route (honestly, you would not believe the misfortune). They empathised and accommodated all the way, even bringing our pre-booked dinner to where we waited on the side of the road a few miles away as we had a 6hr wait. Absolute legends. Their attitudes made such a difference to an otherwise incredibly stressy experience. Friendly hosts, good atmosphere, good food Great communication from a friendly and responsive host. Sonni went out of her way to accomodate my (often last minute) changes of plans because of foul weather. The food was tasty, good portions and I just loved the barista coffee in the morning. The bunks are furnished with curtains, a small ledge to put your phone etc. An electric outlet was also present in the bunk. Very practical! The bathroom and showers were very clean and spacious. The common living and dining room is cosy, roomy and a nice place to meet other guests. Thank you so much for a very nice stay Sonni!
