Before you set out on this extraordinary trail, it’s essential to understand the rich history of slate in our region. The slate industry has left an indelible mark on Snowdonia, shaping its identity and culture. As you walk the Snowdonia Slate Trail, you’ll uncover the stories of hardworking quarrymen and the fascinating evolution of the slate industry.
The Snowdonia Slate Trail spans approximately 83 miles. You’ll encounter breath taking views of Snowdonia National Park, challenging terrains, and tranquil lakes – a paradise for lovers of the great outdoors.

We are conveniently located right on the Snowdonia Slate Trail. Many guests choose us for their first and/or second night of your adventure.
Arrive by public transport
The trail starts and finishes in Bangor. If you arrive by train, you can literally start walking as soon as you step of the train.
The trail will guide you along the Lon Las Ogwen cycle path towards Bethesda, over the moors of Mynydd Llandegai to the village of Dinorwig, where our Hostel is, perfect for your first nights rest.
Let us know if you arrive with your own car. Arrive at the Hostel and get everything ready for your Slate Trail adventure. In the morning, you can catch the bus back to Bangor and start your walk back to the Hostel for your second night.
We are a fully catered Hostel and you can add a delicious home cooked dinner to your stay as well as a PLASTIC FREE packed lunch. Start your day with our FREE cooked breakfast and you are ready to go.
